Unhappy Tire Size TROUBLEE

hey y'all thank you for helping me on my last post for the turbo two mods

anywho i have been on this question LITERALLY for months on.

i can't seem to find the right tire dimensions for my rims so my tires dont look SUPER beefy like they do right now so let me tell y'all. . .

ok so s4 n/a: 205 60 r 15 right?

my aftermarket wheel is 16x7 i belive konig theory is the name and style of the rim..

so how big should my tires be? can someone help? im running 235 55 (r16) and its not working for my car. so what would be the best?

should i go back to 205 55 or 205 50? 225 215 what!? meh i dont get it. . . i tried reading online but i dont understand it. someone simplify it or explain it to me in a different way PLEASE and help me choose fitting tires. thanks y'all

Ok let me break down how to read a tire for you real quick since every one tells me I do it so easy:
Lets look at your tire
235 is the width of the tire that hits the road in mm
55 is the hight of the sidewall in a % to the width in mm. So with that info your side wall should be 105.75 mm tall or 55% of 235mm.
The R stand for Radial construction
The 16 is rims size.

Now to me you should never go over 205mm on a 7" or 177.79mm wide rim since it would look beefy and might not seal as good under hard driving. So if it was me I would buy wider rims so I can open myself up to wider tires or just be stuck in the honda size tire world which I could never do with a sports car.

You can even run a 245/50 on a 16" x 7" rim as that is within the safety specifications listed by the manufacturers. I run 215/55-16 front and 235/50-16 rear. In the past I've run a small diameter 245/50-16 that would be the same diameter, or nearly the same as the fronts. Don't want to get too carried away with different diameters if the car has ABS.

I run 225/50/16's all around and I love it. I used to run 235's in the back and 215's in the front on 17's, but I feel like this setup has a much better feel than going staggered. I am pretty sure 235's will rub in the front with stock suspension.

the aspect ratio (middle number) is a percentage of the first number (width) so if you increase width you have to decrease the middle number.

If I were you I would run 225/50/16s. what offset are your wheels?

this will help you compare different sizes:

Some 225/50/16's will rub the shock with the stock wheel offset. Mine do. I had to extend the studs and add a 5mm spacer for clearance. 215/50/16 would fit without the spacer, but speedometer would be off slightly.

i believe the offset is 40mm. that also sounds like a good size. im just hoping it wont look beefy either. cuz thats 10 mm minus of 235. but im thinking the sidewall should make it look better?

i was usint the tireseize calculator that the guys reccomended up there and 215 50 16 gave me the least amount of speed-o malfunction which was .901%

and the diameter difference was .9%

so i think those are good things haha.

I don't think the bold part is right at all.

Might be a little ambitious... but 215/235 is doable. I've done it. I think I like my current setup of 225 45 R17 all around better, though; the 215 and 235 setup felt too prone to understeer.

Wow, you're on exactly the same page as me. Listen to this man.

Actually, the TII's were to have 215/55-16 tires when new, but as they were not a size that was used in the industry, Mazda went with 205/55-16.
As stated in an above post, not all 225/50-16's will fit on the front, and when they wear down, they look like doughnuts on the 7 with the large fender gaps as they are only 24.85" in diameter compared to the 215/55 and 235/50 around 25.3", at least IMHO, but once again it's personal preference.

As this setup would move the wheels out another 1.56", and with a 22" tall front tire, the car will look as if is travelling on roller skates, which it is.

You don't need to yell, I get the message. When the OE lines are disrupted on any vehicle, to me it doesn't look good, but to others it looks fantastic.
We also have an Acura TL and I see them slammed to the ground, staggered wheels installed, heavy camber with rolled fenders, short fat tires, and once again to me they look rediculous, but to others, the look can't be beat.

That's what makes the world go 'round, to each their own.
