Tire size

I searched quite a bit, and didn't find anything conclusive.

I have 17X8 in wheels

I am currently running 215/45/17 and I would like to go wider but not to the point where the tires start bulging.

I am thinking 225/45/17 would be my best bet.

It looks like a 235/40/17 would be about right as well, but im not sure if it would bulge

I don't mind rolling the fenders and usng 1/4 to 1/2 in spacers if I have to.

225s are pretty much flush with the 8 wide. 235s will buldgee, unless maybe you get a smaller sidewall..

225/45/17 fits nice and squarely on a 17x8. It's what I run. A side benefit is that there's MASSIVE selection in that size, since it's increadibly common.

Aren't you running a big turbo and EMS? I would go 245+ and enjoy the traction.

Just like said above. I have 225/45/17 on a 17x8 rim, and they sit perfectly flush. 235's would look retarded on an 8'' rim.

These really do seem like the best way to go for the wheels I have now.

I would love to run a larger wheel and tire combo, once I can scrape together the cash. I think have read that you can get a 9 inch tire in the rear, but I would assume you cant get much more than an 8 inch in the front without wide body fenders. What do you run?

From what I have been reading it seems like you can get a 275/35/17 in the rear with the right offset, but for the front 225/45/17 is the best you are going to do unless you go widebody.

No such thing as a 275/35/17 as far as I've ever seen. The standard size is 275/40/17, which is taller than stock.

IIRC someone's fitted 255/40/17's in front on rolled stock fenders using coilovers. I think it was on a 30mm offset 17x8.5, but don't take my word for it.

275/35/17 are a manufactured tire, I know at least toyo makes them. They are not a very common size at all. The just seem nice because they would be about the same height as stock.

For now I think I'm just going to go with the 225s.

Once I wear them out hopefully I will have enough scratch to get some wide body fenders and new wheels. Maybe next year.

Right, trust Toyo to make odd sizes, but I'd rather avoid backing myself into a corner with a tire size available from only one brand, possibly only made in one of their models.

I doubt 235s are going to look bulged on a 8 inch rim. I have a 225 on a 7.5 inch wheel and it sits flush.
