Thumbs up tips on porting the 2ndary intake ports...?

I'll probably start assembling my "re-rebuild" tomorrow. One of the things that I could probably improve on are the intake ports on either side of the center-iron.

I originally ordered the RB intake and exhaust porting templates and they worked just fine for my primary ports (on the end-plates). But I found out the hard way that they shouldn't be used on the 2ndaries (at least the same way I ported on the primaries). I ported a nice fat hole in the bottom "tail" part of the port, lol.

How can I make these ports more aggressive without damaging or porting through the irons?

Should I use the same RB 'design' and just not go as deep? Or should I extend the port up (farther than the template)?

I guess another important question is; were the RB porting templates even designed for the 2ndaries? Like, does their basic street-port even include porting these?

Since I was forced to use an N/A center-iron after damaging my stock TII one, I only ported the *new* iron to about what the TII one was stock (except up a little bit and wider at the top)

Maybe this thread is worthless without pics, lol...

Go up, not down and don't hog out the bowl. That's what has worked for me. I don't like RB templates. I think they make the port volume unnecessarily large. Timing and flow are # 1, and smooth = fast, big = slow, therefore, a port with larger timing but not much larger volume, with a much smoother pathway thru it = race engine feel with awesome midrange and stock low-end torque.

I have to say, cough cough, I drove 88Integrals's car the other day... you guy's should be jellous.....really.... the damn thing is snappy.... it comes alive around 2800 3000 and is strong exponentially to 8k....the ports seem to bee reacting well I look forward to a our next race up here.. jeff will have less butterflies and I'll hopfully beon the roster( ordered the clutch)..... ^^ When 88integrals says somthin like stock low-end torque and awsome mid range-torque... it's more like he forgot how little the stock one's have and is spoiled by his porting techniques..... haha
