Tips For Increasing the Low-End

In my turbo 2 I have mad top end, 4-8 is absolutely wicked, I get tossed back in my seat and chirp them nicely into 3rd, but from a start, IM SOOO SLOW....what kinda mods would be able to help the lack of torque off the line???

Its not so much boost lag, I dont think........

They are called rotary engines not V8's man

By its very nature the Rotary engine has little to no low end. We all just have to deal with it. Remember this is not a drag race car it is a handling machine made for turning fast and staying stable enough not to kill yourself flying off a mountain.

yeah.. rotary engines are world famous for low torque numbers. It's just an unfortunate downside. The only true cure I can think of is sc.

There isn't much help really, except for the normal mods that increase hp along with small increases in your torque figure. Just get alot of hp, and along with it should come more torque - hopefully.

i've got a streetport & full exhaust, my low end sucks.... but it makes for a smoother, slower ride when cruisn' w/ the chicas... and when it's time to go, i can get up there in the higher rpms and still put a scared look on their face

umm... no? Bigger diameter of exhaust pipe helps flow, increases spool time on turbine. makes more lag actually.

umm... no? Boost controller will NOT help your low end what so ever. All it can do is raise your boost level. It does not help acheive a certain boost range quicker than normal.

Ball bearing turbo? Yes. Much help. that bitch will spin like a top. nos though? not a good idea. Nitrious should only be used at wot and at 3k or higher on the rpm to avoid blowing your **** up. But it never hurts to have nitrious anyways.

big V8's have torque converters, do those help and could they be used on our cars? Might seem like a dumb question but i really don't know.

actually no.....more flow means faster spool time. thats why a turbo creeps when an exhaust goes on

actually no.... a boost controller WILL help you spool faster as well. as it will delay the boost that the wastegate actuator sees which keeps the wastegate door closed until the set boost level is achieved so the hotside of the turbo sees more flow of exhaust. hence, faster spool time.

Bah! Low end. A good driver on a track never hits low end and keeps his Rev's high. ( I love you rotary!)

how much of an increase did you see with the 4.38... ive got a 4.1 stock... was thinking about changing the gears (maybe up to 4.77 though)...

anyone done this... and possibly have times before and after?

torque converter is only used in automatic transmissions, it is similar to a clutch
4.77 gears would SIGNIFICANTLY reduce low speed times, but you would lose overall top speed
