Are you running street tires? If so, i recommend bypassing the burnout box and do a dry hop or two to get the feel of the track. Is it a .5 or .4 tree? If the lights count down you'll want to get on the gas as soon as the last yellow light starts to go off or depending on your reaction time, when the you see the last yellow light come on. If you wait to see the last light don't try to predict it. If you want to predict then do the counting deal, 5..4..3..2..1 with the lights and you will want to go right before you say "1" 1 being the green light.

It will just take some practice runs to get the feel of the track and the lights. Take as many test runs as you can before you have to set a dial in.

very cool, this is my first track event so i'm kinda nervous. And i'm on street tires. I have been trying launches but i still peel out, i tried 3500(little bit of stall) then 4000(too much wheel spin) so i tried in between but i still get wheel spin.

If you are going to be lined up against someone else, try to be the first car to stage. As soon as both cars are staged, the lights start counting down. I was always last and then would be in a hurry with getting ready, slipping the clutch, etc.- being first might get you an extra second or two to prepare for the launch.

G/L and have fun.

rev to 3500, dump the clutch, and control the wheel spin with the gas.

Pay absolutely NO attention to the other lane. Concentrate only on the lights.....leave when you see the last yellow, do not anticipate it. Good luck.

Yeah have fun!! No need to be nervous. The track will probably be a bit stickier than the street. Just do as many runs as you can. Heck i've come back up the return road and got straight back in the staging lanes without even picking up my timeslip. Just get a buddy to grab yours while your on your way back.

I disagree with trying to line up first, if you do this you run the risk of the clown in the other lane taking forever to stage, and messing up your launch. Its kinda like icing a kicker in football.

launching at 3500 is good until you can control the car and are used to the track. but real good launches like the pros are up in the 6500-7000 rpm range. you have to watch the rpms. if the tires grab when you drop the clutch, the rpms will drop and come back up. if they keep climbing when you drop the clutch, you need to throw second immediately. ideally, the tires will spin minimally and the car will move foward. but this takes time to learn...you also need good tires and a clutch. this guy in a 1st gen at the track was launching at 10,000 rpm. but he had a fully built bridgeported engine and really sticky wide tires
