Tips for changing trans and gear oil?
Bought 4 quarts on syntheic to put in my'88 vert, have never changed the trans and rear end fluids. Any tips?
should I drive it around to warm up fluids first, does the rachet drive fit in the drain and fill plugs?
I bought Castrol, comes with the squeeze quarts with a point, does that method work or do I need a pump?
Thanks.

A standard socket will not work on the square plugs. You'll only round them off and end up very unhappy.

Please, whatever you do.
Remove the fill plugs before draining. Too many people drain first, then realize the fill plugs are frozen and get stuck.

when i went to the auto parts store to get a pump there where 2 of them i bought the "better" one it was a self siphoning pump and it was orange in color and i found out the long and messy way that it didnt work what so ever so what i did was take the hose from it and put on end in the fill hole and the other end i fished up threw the engine bay
i took my redline fluid and put it into a sqeezable bottle and put teh tip of tha tin the hose and sqeezed the fluid into the tranny that way. worked fine for me and was actually a lot less messy than the pump
but im sure that if you get a pump that works right that owuld be easier

Do make sure you can get the fill plug out before you start. Then do what I did. Get about 3 ft. of hose. I used an old washing machine hose. Snake it down the left side of the engine near the firewall and stick the end into the fill hole. Stick a small funnel in the top of the hose and fill away.
