timing and idle issue

i have a s5 that i put a rebuilt s4 s.p shortblock in, i am premixing and have the omp still plugged in so the ecu will think its still there. i bought a block off plate kit and everything that had a block off plate got removed. i did not do the throttle body mod, i just didnt run any coolant lines to it. the car has a 2.5 inch d.p. to a piece of the factory piping to a test pipe to a apex n1 catback. i have stabbed the cas a couple of times and checked and adjusted timing several times. right now is the closest i have gotten it. when i check the timing off of l1 i am about inch in front of the leading mark, when i check it off of t1, i am about half an inch in front of the leading mark. in order for the car to idle i had to tighten the throttle cable up, it now idles at around 1k and it bounces around a lot. i still cant get the water temp gauge to read, i believe the sender is bad, my stealership wants 70 bux for that little thing. any ideas would be awesome. thanks guys

First of all, the thermowax on the TB needs the coolant hose to function properly. Put it back on, or remove the thermowax. You cannot set the timing properly with the idle that high.
