Time to upgrade the fuel system

My 87 TII is making around 220 Rwhp @ 10 psi with some small bolt on mods! I was in the garage today and removed the turbo intake pipe (stock one) and was thinking of buying a 3" J bend to build an upgrade.

I found a 3" to 2" slicone reducer from my old 2.5 RS intake that was laying around,I bolted my AFM right to the turbo with it's cone filter! I picked up 4psi on the first test pull to 1 bar on my greddy boost gauge.

I turned up the juice on the SAFC just in case! but my butt dyno is not as accurate as the dyno jet 3 miles down the road "witch my roommate runs for a living"
. I need to upgrade to bigger injectors to hit my goal of 300+ rwhp on my stock turbo.

So here is my question? Should i buy 720 cc injectors, fuel pump and tune with SAFC? Or buy two more say? 460 to 550 cc and run them with a haltech F5 fuel computer? or Just go E6k with some 1300cc?

I'm building a j-spec 13b right now! so in a few months when it's finished i need to be as safe as possible

Well if u got it like that, lol, get the e6k with the 1300 injectors. BUT, you could get by with much less. With the s-afc, walbro pump(which I don't think you have), and 720cc injectors you should be fine for anything the stock turbo can throw out and more.

I'm just seeing how much power i can make with the stocker intill my engine dies. I'm really looking into the future with my built motor. I have two sets of injectors so running six of the could seem pretty easy with a greddy e-manage? But could you still get my the cfm from a 60-1 Q trim turbo?

There is a saying stock sucks, more is better, and to much is just right. That is so true when it comes to you Turbo guys. For now you want 300 RWHP but in a couple of months you will want 350, then 400 …… so you get the picture. I think you should future proof your car and go with the E6K this way you will not have to worry down the road.

from what ive seen the limits on a stock turbo are around 260hp. im not really saying thats all a stocker can make, im just saying thats all ive ever personaly seen a car with a stock turbo make. in my opinion, for a SAFE 300+ hp, go with 4 720cc injectors in stock locations and a haltech E6k. if your looking for 400+hp, 2 720cc and 2 1300cc or 1600cc injectors. thats my advice anyways for what its worth. always have more fuel than youll ever need, especialy on an RX-7. i dont trust piggy back computers like the AIC and F-cons too much. one or two is acceptable, but when you start relying on them to keep your engine alive its trouble brewing. a stand-alone ECU is the best upgrade you can do to your car. youll make more power with the same mods and you car will run better on a day-to-day basis as well. ive seen it happen. the 60-1 flows a lot of air. its boost is way more efficient than the boost from a stock turbo. some 720s and an AFC will not safley support that tubo.

if u go with 460 or 550 cc injectors.. its dumb because n/a have 450 cc injectors and tII's have 550 cc stock lol

NAs have 460, but anyways he was thinking of adding 2 additional injectors to go along with his stock 550cc ones.

Thanks guys! i'm going to just suck it up and buy a e6k. For the money, buying a new charge pipe, injectors and greddy e-manage is about the same price of a full stand alone. So it look's like 720's and 1600's should be enough fuel for what i'm trying to do.
So for the timebeing i'm going to run 550's and 720's with an ARD? 340 intank pump and tune with my SAFC. It's almost time for a FMIC to reach close to 300rwhp goal

You will never come close to 300 rwhp w/ the stock turbo. The most I have seen on the stock turbo is 235 rwhp on a street ported motor. Look to atleast get a hybrid or a real T04 for your goal. A FMIC will help keep the temps down too. But fuel first is the way to go. Jay

You have not seen my dyno graph's have you?? 219 rwhp and 220 torq @ 10 psi Stock motor, stock turbo, stock precat, main cat, ect. I picked up almost 5psi from the tid mod, and if rx7 store could get there heads out of there ***'s!! my 3" dp that i orderd two weeks ago could be installed along with custom 3" mid pipe. Only the dyno will tell the tale! 15psi,3" turbo back with no cats?? Frond mount? it will be close! how about 275+

Get a full exhaust and port the w/g. Also go read Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. Those cats are going to get so hot that they will cause tons of backpressure leading to extreme rise of egt...

Just dont do any runs longer than about 20 seconds or else its self destruct time!!!

Okay, I saw your numbers and am quite impress w/ your limited mods. Great job.

The stock turbo is as good at 11-11 psi as it is at 15 psi because it is out of the efficiency range and intake temp will sky rocket (then a new/rebuilt motor is needed). Front mount is not going to help at the dyno that much, other than maybe reduce pressure. That's why I don't believe you will get that much more. Just my $.02. Please post your dyno after you do all the mods. If you do make close to 300 rwhp, I'll be the first to apologize and more power to you...Good luck,

By the way, adding the 3" dp and mp will give you another problem. How are you going to control boost w/ the 3" dp and mp? Unless your right foot is very sensitive, you will probably blow your motor (another reason why I don't see how you can make close to 300rwhp). A BC will not help you here. Port your turbo...

Jay

The first graph is stock motor @5psi with a cone filter!

Second graph is 9psi with hyper catback, removed A/C,power steering.

I'm just going to install 720 secondary's and a ARD 340 fuel pump, tune with SAFC and try to keep the A/F happy. I'm really not worried about blowing up the motor! that will be motivation to finish building my J-spec.
