Unless there has been work done (like a new motor) offer him half that.

Its hard to tell without really checking out the car. You should have a compression test done, and have a reliable mechanic throughly check out the car.

$3300 us is a bit steep unless the car has a new engine, new turbo, new vacuum tubes, and there is ABSOLUTELY no rust or body damage.

If all the above is true, the interior is in good shape, and there is nothing broken or missing on the car, then it would be worth that.

If the wipers don't work on high or park and/or there is a 3800rpm hesitation I wouldn't worry about that as it is typical of used TIIs and is easily fixable.

that guy must be on crack. even if he replaced all of the above, the chassis has 167k on it...the brakes and suspension are *likely* shot, and even IF he takes half of what hes asking, your now into the car with a new motor, etc...for about 3500 more. and lest we forget resale value...after your done with it, who will wanna buy it when it has 200k on it? this is my opinion completely, but i wouldnt spend money and time on something with 167k.

**** that. I got a 89 TII with custom leather seats, 45,000 miles on it, and all new brakes, suspension, and engine parts. I'm asking 3000 without the engine.....4000 with it.

I wouldn't give that for the car you mentioned. Now, the one just above this post for $4000 would be a good deal... IF it runs good.

The Blue Book on that car is $2200-2600. Almost all RX-7's with 160K+ miles will need an engine rebuild soon, need paint, and will at least have the driver's seat bolsters crushed, so this is all normal. What makes this guy's car better than normal to fetch the higher price that he is asking?

Here is a site where you can get a good baseline price, and then raise or lower the value depending how much you like what you see. Be sure to read the instructions on the site so that you understand what each condition rating means.
