UT Are TII S4 starters and TII S5 starters interchangable? (searched)(quick cliff notes)

Starter dead, need to replace, have a S4 TII that had a dead engine, sold the engine core, have a perfectly good S4 TII starter.

Searched, I found this https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ter+S5+s4+swap which answers the question of the flywheel as of S4 and S5, but doesnt say if a turbo S4 and S5 starter will work for either.

Cliffs:

TII S5 starter died

Have good TII S4 starter

Will it work?!

Thanks

All non-turbo starters (5-speed only?) are the same.
All turbo starters are the same.

I would think that the only way it wouldn't work would be if the splines don't mate up.

Yes, a turbo 2 starter fits S-4 or S-5.

yep all n/a starters are the same, all turbo starters are the same. however all starter solenoids are the same between turbo and n/a, so you may want to check to see i fi t is the solenoid that is stuck. if it is you may just want to swap solenoids

NA Auto starters are different than NA Manual starters. The Solenoid is placed differently.

However, Solenoid placement on an NA Auto starter is the same as a TII starter. The Auto may indeed be stronger as the motor housing is a bit longer.
