jesus ******* christ....

do all the rebuilders have to get into it when it comes to rebuilds?

for those who have the extra cash the peace of mind in having everything replaced is perfectly fine. on the flip side MANY rebuilders have built engines for a bit less than $2k in labor and parts and have VERY few failures. i for one speak with the cheaper rebuilders in that reusing parts is fine but if a customer has the extra cash i have absolutely no problem throwing new rotor housings, OEM seals and new bearings in.

what is the final deliberation? both rebuilders are right! but not every customer has $3500 for a "new" engine and used parts get the job done still.

the thing that gets me though is builders who say engines MUST use new housings, lap the irons and get all new bearings. that is FALSE because many rebuilders reuse those parts on a daily basis and their engines are on the road pushing it every day for years and years.

I agree but now you are contradicting individuals criteria or reputation or prestige’s of their work. Some of us are unwilling to release a product being half done IE used parts in spec. You are in their lets do it. Also some builders say if you sent it to me it is because you know it will be done like this cheaper or more expensive. No one is right or wrong.

Bottom line business code of ethics you work under.

Mine is - OEM only complete & 3 window bearings, new housings, lapped irons, studs, treatments, personal custom port work unless largely specified, oil pump, water pump, cleaned injectors and coolers, new PD. No if ands or buts no other options accepted!

In theory if none of the internal parts have been damaged by corrosion and are in good shape, then you should be able to just disassemble, clean, measure, and then reassemble with new seals.
