Question Tii Rear...?

Ok, I finally installed my TII rearend into my 90GTU which was orginally automatic and had a non-possi 3.90 gear ratio.

The TII rearend is a 4.10 ratio correct...? (or something real close to that I believe)

Would I be correct in saying the 4.10 vs the 3.90 would now give me a better holeshot and less topend...?

I've yet to jump on it and see if I can feel a difference since the car is in the back of my driveway blocked by other cars. That'll be tommorows agenda.

You are correct in that the gearing will allow a lower top speed than the 3.9. However, you are still geared to do ~190MPH at 7000 in 5th..which is way more than your car will ever be able to do. In fact, you may now actually have more of a top speed, since you will be at a higher RPM where there is more power in 4th.

Just curious, but would you have to reset your speedometer to take the new gearing into account?

As long as he also swapped in a 5-speed transmission that has the correct speedo gear for a 4.10, his speedo will be accurate

The 5speed transmission is from a 90na.

The wheel size would be 17's but with a low profile. Compared to the stock rims and tires that came off the car they are the same height.... But man, I think the big rim size is slowwwwin' me down.

The car still feels like a PIG out of the hole. Plus the fact that I just also installed a ACT clutch and pressure plate while I was under there should help I would think. Mabey I'm just used to my first gen pullin WAAAAY' harder and I'm expecting tooo much.

I feel as if dumping the clutch over 5K rpms would break something so I haven't done it yet and anything under 5K the thing bogs....?

The 6port sleeves are removed. Mabey I should put them back for some low end torque help....?????

Put your sleeves back in!!!

As long as they were working properly, the only thing you did was effectively kill 20 low end HP, and some were around that in torque to.

Your doing no good with them out. Just a tip.

I took them out because the same motor was built for my first gen with the dellorto... and didn't put them back not realizing they were that important at the time.

There not THAT importent, it's not like they are hurting anything in/out, it is just worthless to take them out, unless they are stuck closed, in which case fixing them would be MUCH better.

Do you think it's worth my Saturday morning of wrenching and getting my hands filthy to put them back...? EVERYTHING is stock except a cone filter.

I had the sleeves removed & grinded down in my NA. No noticeable loss of torque at lower RPM and had a slightly stronger push after 6kRPM

Doesn't Pinapple make modded sleeves...? Are they worth getting...?

I'm checking them out now on they're website and it says they have to be inserted into your existing 6port sleeve...? What's up with that...? Definatly looks like they'll flow better due to the curve they made but an insert inside a insert...??

Yes, Pineapple makes modified sleeves, and for $50 I think they are a wise investment . However, it is advisable to read this:
There have been a handful of cases where the insert has become dislodged, and effectively wiggled back and forth and threw some debris into the engine. However, there are hundreds of people using these sleeves also, who have never had a problem (Including me..) You need to assure that the insert is properly seated. If you are interested, I have a set of these sleeves that I am going to sell (Wont need them after my T2 swap...) I could even tach weld them in for you if that would be a major concern. I have been running them for years, and even put them in a friends GSL-SE for a few months, and then back intomy engine.
