TII and N/A Transmission Question

Alright so I have changed the whole rear end to a S4 tII rear end and now I Have to decided to repull the motor an put a N/A one to use as a DD. My question is can I use the TII tranny that I have already bolted and tII rear end on a N/A engine. I know I read it here somewhere that you could...

you need the TII flywheel Attached to the N/A engine.Make sure the Series of the Flywheel is the same as the Engine(s4,s5)..Other than That I think that is it.The TII starter,Trans,Driveshaft, diff and half shafts.Done..N/a engine on a TII driveline.

That would be the idea. The N/A components are smaller in diameter and would be useless with the TII components.

He should be able to put an NA bell housing on the TII tranny and bolt it in without replacing flywheel and clutch.

yeah.. that nut is a pain.. i ended up paying for a craftsman 52mm? socket.. somewhere around there.. and a 4 foot galvanized steel pipe.. it was a three man job.. i had to pull off two flywheel nut yesterday.. just have one person stand on one end without crushing anything, another pushing it down and you pull.. its quite simple.. so good luck with that one..

you pretty much have everything.. just disconnect everything from flywheel and back and put it on the n/a motor.

Actually its more like 350 lb-ft, and the socket is a 54mm or 2 1/8" socket. You can get tool you need from racing beat or mazdatrix. You will also need something to stop the flywheel from rotating like a flywheel stopper bar.
Also, if you had kept the NA tranny you would need a special custom made driveshaft for it to bolt up to the TII rear end.

you guys think it stays at what it's set at? I tried to one off while leaving the motor in the car, flywheel locked, braced myself against the wall. put my feet on the end of a 3' bar and pushed myself through the sheetrock before the nut broke loose. To get the nut to pop I pulled the motor and left it hanging, bolted on a 4' piece of steel to the flywheel, drilled a hole through one end and attached a shackle, put the 3/4" breaker on the nut, and a 4' pipe over the breaker bar and attached a come-along between them and started cranking until it popped.

Now I open the valve to my aircompressor and hook up the right tool.

the fsm says its initially torqued down at 260 and after time when you decide to take it off, it tightens to about 350.. =]

it took me one other person, a 4' galvanized steel pipe, and a 14 mm wrench.. i planted the wrench on the stud of the fly wheel and propped it against the manifold. that held my flywheel in place. one person stood at one end of the motor and i pulled..

edit: i got my 54 mm socket at sears. theres craftsman ones there but its like 30 bucks.. so find a hook up
