I have a TII conversion in progress and the one TII hood I have located will cost me $250.00 for shipping, due apparently to a wooden crate having to be made.
I'm wondering if some of you did something different, such as added an aftermarket scoop to the original hood, or perhaps a carbon fiber? I would be over $500 in a used hood at this point, I don't think so.

Get an FMIC and you don't have to use the TII hood...

FMIC's will cost ya anywhere from 500-1300 bucks.

Running steel air pipe, my custom FMIC with a 20x8X3 Modine aluminum core is sitting right about 500 bucks right now.

You can get a greddy v-spec FMIC for about 850-950.

the stock TMIC sucks..

 

Budget FMIC "kits" can be assembled for only a couple hundred bucks worth of parts. That's my plan to keep my stock aluminum hood at least.

 

who ever told you that is ripping you off, call menlo worlwide the # is 800hiemery, i got a hood shipped from GA. for only 40 bux, the hood only weighs like 25 pounds they didnt have to put it on a wooden crate, i told the guy to just rap it up in a old blanket, when you call tell them tell them what the hood is worth and tell them to be careful with it, also you can tell them to hold it for pick up to save you even more $

I'm just hacking a hole in my hood until i can buy a cf tii hood.

I will probably rivet some sheet metal on to make a scoop.

 

Getting a FMIC (or even just front-mounting the stock IC) would be a far smarter way to spend your money than a carbon fibre TII hood.

 

Going to pick up the car at kevin's now, I'll ask him about the front-mount option. Any write ups around here on just how to do this?

I need a hood or FMIC.

I still have AC and PS so doing a FMIC kit will be a PITA.

This is also a Daily highway driven car.

Less chance for damage if it's TMIC.

I'm also relatively stock so I won't got FMIC just yet.

Maybe down the line once I have an extra 1k laying around(WONT HAPPEN). I'm already trying to save to go to college and get an apartment ugh.......

 

you should have played the lottery - this is not how this organization operates nor any other LTL or air company. If its damaged and not packed, its your dime! Before you try to rip me be careful here, I ran Emery's largest city for over ten years a while back. FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE.

with that said, a good pack job does not require a crate. Its just the best way to go but not the only way.
