TII Heatshielding
Well when I was taking apart my motor I found that alot of my turbo heatshield was rusted, cracked or damaged, I do rember hearing vibrations under full throttle, so can I take this stuff off with no ill effects, I realise it would be benificial to get some new shielding or something to keep water and dirt off the turbo, but is it really that nesseccary? I'm all the big single turbo conversion have none...

Keep Right Except to Pass
You don't really need them, there are tons of people running w/o.
I have mine, and say keep 'em if you can, but I wouldn't buy new ones. I can't imagine they'd be less than $50.
You might want to shield your wiring harness good if you run w/o them.

I yanked mine off when I took the turbo off 5 months ago and I am doing just fine. Wrap any wiring in the area if it'll make you feel better - all I did was the o2 sensor wire, and it's just fine. Keep in mind I've boosted at least 10 pounds this entire time, and sometimes more so I generate lots of heat. I think you'll be fine without them

correct. I made a post a while back if you search you'll probably find it. I'll be going back to the track as soon as I get some KYB AGX's. I can't even do a burnout now my wheelhop is so bad. Hopefully I can be reporting some 106 traps and some decent ET's.

Certain companies make custom shielding for different applications and different cars, similar to the Greddy kits. I realise that you said that money was tight but just thought this info. could be usefull if you really want to protect the wiring.
