TII or GXL wheel, which is better for drifting?

at the moment i'm rocking my turbo 2 wheels but with my current16r tires my wheels rub the fender at sharp turns. The other day I saw a gxl at the yard with a nice set of rims that had been previously painted black. I was thinking of getting em since they were like 78 dollars but I hesitated because I wasn't sure if the turbo 2 was a better wheel or not .Anybody know what wheel is better for drifting purposes TII or GXL?

personal preferance. if your tires are rubbing, you might want to go a bit thinner or freshen up your suspension so you arent getting as much body roll. my fc rocks 16" r32 wheels and my s13 has little and light 14x7 280z wheels.

I run TII wheels with 225/50-16's and I have never rubbed once. The car is even lowered about an inch. I agree that you need new springs.

i drift with vert wheels. they drop about 20 to 24 pounds off of your car aswell compared to gxl and tII wheels. nice 15s though and im running bald tires on the rear. best way to drift haha (i really dont recommend that) but good wheels and they look great on about any car.

bald is bad.... i have a les schwab account. they know me by name haha. try a pair of brand new federals. they smoke like the dickens and are not too soft and not too hard. they re-tread pretty easy though but i havent had a tire hold together for a while.

You're running the wrong size tires on the Turbo II stock wheels.

14 would be too small, 15 is okay, and 16's might be a lil bit better for beginning. You won't be able to gain speed as fast as you can with small wheels, bigger wheels will help that. As far as rubbing I had some gold meshies that are 16's from a bonneville. Offset was too positive jus slapped some spacers in there for now. Took it to the track it rubbed a lil bit but didn't stop me from beating on it. I would like 17's though cause I wanna see how well I can do with some good tires and good grip. I'm tired of used tires!

He never said the size of his tires on his wheels, did he?

I run 225/50/16 tires on my stock TII sized wheels. They're not TII wheels, but same diameter, offset, and width. Never rubbed. And the car is dropped.

I've drifted with both my stock GXL's and with 17's...my suspension was stock(aka shitty) untill recently it was easier with the 15's cause of the lack of power....but neither rubbed that bad.

i would really recommend 15's unless you have enough power to drift with a bigger rim...plus tires are cheaper

my $.02

Yep.
If you're running stock 205 / 55 / 16, they should NOT be running.
Unless you're doing something stupid...

Even 225 / 50 / 16 should be okay.

So I'm wondering why he's rubbing?
Either he is running spacers or running the thing dropped too low or something really bad...

has the car been in accident? mine was in an accident before i got it and the tire rubbed at full turn due to some random plastic crap (brake ducts i think) sticking out. like reted said, something is seriously weird if those tiny rims are rubbing something.
