tII dif into s5 gxl
search disabled. so i'm sure you veterans have seen this 4 trillion times. as the title says, is this just a bolt in procedure? lsd clutch rear into an s5. not sure if its actually a tII or not. figured the tII was the likely donor.

Not in the s5 that I'm aware of. But anyway, half-shafts are required (series doesn't matter, it'll bolt in) and of course driveshaft, and then you'll need the tranny to match the driveshaft, unless you feel like doing a custom driveshaft

so let me get this straight. no other car in the s4's came with lsd besides the tII and to get it to fit i need to put a tII in my car. sob, why can't simplicity happen occasionally. duct tape will work.....................

That's not what was asked, the only s5 with the clutch LSD was the TII, I believe the GTUs had a viscous LSD. Anyway, series 4 you can hit up the GXL's and the turboII's, and I believe it was an option on the GTU's?
S4 Gxls and sports both came with a clutch 4.1LSD TIIs came with one as well but it is in a different case.
S5 GXL had 4.1 Viscous LSD, and the GTUs had 4.3 of the same type.
there was an 88 model of the GTUs (not sure if it was called that) that had a 4.3 Clutch type diff. but good luck finding one

i have a s5 gxl and its open. i thought it was lsd until it snowed here and i found myself burning one wheel. anyway, i bought a clutch lsd off of a friend but i'm not sure whether its out of a gxl or a tII but it is an s4. ithought that all s5 lsd's were viscous. even the tII.
I have a simple questions . I have a GTU S5 with no LSD and I currently bought a S4 GTU with the 4:1 LSD.
Would that bolt right in properly??
It comes with the entire read end assembly, but I plan on just using the LSD from it and installing it onto my S5 rear.

Jeremy- You do need a custom driveshaft to make the turboII diff work, you are better off finding one from a GXL or GTU or even a sport (didnt come with one stock but youll find alot with lsd's)
Wormiez- Yeap go ahead and rip out that lsd but i cant believe your tearing up a GTU

N/A Diffs are all 7", and all TII diffs are 8" ring gear. You can tell its origins by comparing the casing to your current diff.
A TII diff will not bolt in unless you've also got the halfshafts and either a custom driveshaft or the TII driveshaft, which requires a tranny replacement. All N/A and all TII diffs are respectively interchangeable.
The GTUs and the TII are the only S5 cars that come with a viscous limited slip - though I've heard some S5 vert guys claim that they have an LSD. For the S4 cars, the TII and GXL have a clutchpack LSD. Mazda says Sport cars do not, but like the S5 verts, I've heard some owners claim that theirs has one.
