TII Auto Tranny -> NA Auto?

I was talking to a person who imports J-specs and he said basically they have a ton of TII auto tranny's nobody wants and would give me one free. Does anyone know what it would take to bolt into my 88 GXL Auto?Would I have to change other things like driveshaft, etc. or computer?

If you insist on running a sludgepump, make sure you plumb in an Auxiliary Cooler and have all your exhaust shields in place.

My tranny is shot and it's a free replacement, otherwise I'm switching to a 5-speed...

It's free! Take it, and see if it fits. Based on photographs, it looks the same as the NA AT to me.

1) The NA AT is extremely expensive to fix or replace.
2) The AT to MT conversion is a real pain.

The AT->MT swap is easy!. If you can change your clutch you can convert your transmissions.

As far as "bolting in" it should bolt right in place of the other n/a auto tranny, I'm quite sure about that.... HOWEVER, the TII has different gearing so the trans may shift at different RPMS and I don't know if the drive shaft is the same spline style or not.. BUT, for crissake,, get it.. its free, worry about the details later, at most you may have to change the driveshaft and maybe the rear gears to get it to shift at the right place, I know the ECU controls the shifting, sooo, might have some issues there betweeen turbo and NA...

The NA AT driveshaft is the same spline as the TII driveshaft.

It sure is easy enough. I got my friend lt1_rx7 and him and I both with his girlfriend swapped my auto for a manual in my FD and had it up and driving around in a single 8 hour day while taking breaks and eating lunch. It is not as hard as it sounds if you prep well for it. It was worth the effort emensly!
