Tii

I had a question.

I was wondering how often the TII encounter problem. My friend told me he has to fix it on a weekle basis. To me that's really no appealing. i hear rotary has a lot of problem. Please help w/ info ...

How often do you encounter problem?
Are parts expensive? (What i mean is compared to other car are they expensive maybe because they are hard to find?)

also i was lookin at this site
http://www.musclecarclub.com/other-c...azda-rx7.shtml

it says that the TII does quarter mile in 14.4 second and the newer and older ones have the same time but 17 horses different. Also what is the redline limit for TII cause it's rated at 6500; so i was wondering what hp it was at rev limit. also 183 torqu at 4000rpm so what is torque at 6500 rpm.

It's jus been bothering me... please help i'm very interested in TII. I drove a N/A and loved it.

First read the FAQ for FC posted by Icemark (Sticky at top) the do a search...You could probably spend the day reading.
If you drove a n/a and loved it, wait until you drive a TII. In my opinion the TII is no different then other cars if properly maintained. Don't forget, we're talking about cars that are 12/16 yeras old and most have had a hard life. Different owners, modifications, and most take a beating. Look at some "performance" cars from 1986/1991 and you'll understand that they all can't be perfect. The rotary just doesn't last as long as a piston engine, but sure is sweet. Parts, well, yes they are expensive, but some can be picked up used. The major problem is trying to find someone to work on the cars. You're much better off learning and doing the repairs yourself. I've had mine since new and replaced the engine @ 155,000. BAC valve and TPS problem. That's it other then 1 clutch assembly, 2 sets of brakes and other normal tune up items.

Any car this old is going to have problems, regardless of engine type, especially if it sells for really cheap. There is a reason why they sell less than their original $12,000-27,000 sticker price. It amazes me how many people complain about the poor reliability of a car that they bought for $2,000. If you want something reliable, then buy a new car with a good warranty.

1) Performance numbers depend on a lot of factors, such as driver skill, weather conditions, etc., so you can only use those numbers as a very basic ballpark figure.
2) The 89-92 cars are heavier, which is why their performance numbers are not as good as you would expect with the extra horsepower.
3) Redline is 8,000rpm on the 89-92 non-turbo, and 7.000rpm on the other engines.
4) Search this forum for dyno sheets if you want to see the full horsepower and torqe range of various engine configurations.
5) For any engine, Torque ft-lbs = (Horsepower * 5252) / RPM

These sites are better than the one that you referenced:
