tighten the hatch

I searched for this and couldn't find anything useful. Maybe I wasn't using the right words or something. Is there any way to tighten the hatch latch? Mines a little loose and I would like to tighten it up, as well as stop it from ratling from my bass.

There are two latches that lock the hatch down (as Im sure you can see). If you take the plastic covers off each latch, you can loosen the two 12mm bolts that fasten the latch to the body. Once they are a little loose, you will notice that there is a little up/down adjustment there. Just push the latches down a little bit, and retighten them. This will force the hatch to close a little tighter against the rubber seal around the hatch.
Try this, it may help, it may not. and maybe you can turn the bass down a bit. That ought to stop the rattling.

While you're at it, make sure to adjust the pullers on the latches (they have threads and little plastic clips that hold them in place... unlock the clip and move the puller arm back and forth until it has the right preload) so that they release at the same time (lock them with a screwdriver, then push on the lever to test the timing), and apply some tire wet gel to the seals to prevent them from sticking... also, apply white lithium grease to...everything (just to be on the safe side).

Your hatch weatherstipping might be worn out/flat as well. Ever smell exhaust?

Only smell exhaust with the door open just sitting there... that could also be that my mufflers just recently rusted out... dropping car off tomorrow at muffler shop to have them welded back up till I can afford a RB catback..... I'll try the two suggested things... I'm gonna move them down as much as I can to get it to try and latch tight

Simple fix. Leave a window down or a door open when you shut the hatch.
