Ticking noise when depressing brake

I've searched and did not find answer. Whenever I depress and release the brake pedal, I hear this ticking noise. Can't seem to isolate it but I believe I hear it through the dash. Its only when there is a change in movement to the brake pedal (whether its going up or down).

One person suggested brake booster but I "think" it is working correctly. I did the check where you hold pedal down and start car, and it does go down. And when I shut off the engine and pump a couple of times, it gets dead stiff.

Unfortunately that is about the only information I can give. Any other suggestions?

Well, the ticking happens even when I'm parked in my driveway.

how loud is the tick.

there is a switch in the brake pedal, that can sound like a faint click.

Also the pivot at the top of the pedal can click if dirty or corroded.

There can also be noise in the stereo system generatd by the brake lights coming on and that would sound like a click.

so I would ask is it interior or exterior???

Is your stereo on when you hear this tick? Does it go away when you turn the stereo off?

Ive solved this problem twice with FC owners. Brake lights causing a clicking through non-shielded speaker wire....

check to see if the clicking is comming fomr the calipers. Its possible that your pistons in our calipers are binding and you may need to rebuild your calipers

Sounds very much like it is coming from the dash. So I don't think its the calipers?

As far as stereo. I don't have the stereo in the car, the owner pulled it out before he sold it to me. So basically all the stereo wires are disconnected already.

I'll try to see again if its from the pedal itself but it seems that I'm hearing it from around the dash area but not 100% sure if its from inside the cabin or the engine bay. Its fairly noticeable though and its a fast tick like "tik-tik-tik-tik-tik". Same sound happens when the pedal is being let off as well

Bump for more assistance... not caliper and not stereo. What else to check?

When I press The brake in my GXL I hear a single tick. Sounds like it's coming from the AAS motor on top of the strut behind me....If yours is malfunctioning it could be making a steady ticking....maybe from one of the front struts?
