ur sure it's from the CPU?

all cars will tick after being driven.. the aluminum and iron and different metals expand and contract at different temperatures... so as they cool they begin to "settle"

brake rotors do it too

if u REALLY think it's the ecu, hold it in ur hand and stare at it as u hear the ticking... i can say 99% it's not the ECU.. unless u have capacitors popping like popcorn :P

relays make an annoying tick. If they are recieving a messed up signal voltage they can do whats called relay chatter... which sounds like a bunch of tickets. Its annoying and generaly needs to be fixed if you here it.

things that tick by the driverside kick panel

blinker relays, fuel relay, there may be a starter cut on the security too that uses a relay, not sure.

hahhaa, I have the same problem. I have a little black box that has a harness disconnected from it, but from what I can tell it still has some other wires attached to it. When I first got the car, the previous owner said that the idiot lights will work again if I plugged in that harness, wich was totall bullshit becuase this box does something else completley.

ANYWAYS, when I plugged in the harness, it went 'tick...tick....tick...tick..." it was defenitly a relay in there doing something. Car on or off, it would do it!
Looking closer at the box, it had a brand name on it, I forget what it was called, but I was fairly certain that it was some kind of car alarm the previous owner had installed.
In other words, the ticking was the relay inside, activating the horn every time. Although my horn didn't go off, a few weeks ago when I was removing the Powersteering lines, I noticed that the horn was disconnected. I always thought that my cpu was bad.
So im guessing the owner disconnected his ******* horn, to make the car alarm stop? lol, but if you unplug the box the ticking goes away.

I've been too scared to take the box out, cause im sure there are other wires connected to it, and me not being the electrical type, im leaving it alone! Last thing I want is the car not to ******* work..

Anyways, I havent tested that **** enough to prove what I just typed out, im just guessing. But check under your dash and look, see if you got some kind of aftermarket alarm in there thats doing it.. lol, did that even help??

I have the same ticking but on the passenger side.. definatly sounds like relays ticking away. I am also curious why it only does it sometimes, specially after potholes and if it's a bad sign.

nothing in the CPU to click except the horn relay, alt relay, or turn signal relays...

So if none of those are on, and all work fine, then the problem is not the CPU

Turn signals are controlled by one of the bottom plugs on the CPU, while the horn and alt warning are controlled by the plug in the middle of the CPU.
