throttle response
upgraded throttle response, what should i be doing in order to achieve this, im completely stock but am still saving for injectors , fuel pump etc, anyone point me in the direction of some decent primary and secondaries that they know to be good that might be available down under? but for the mean time just want to upgrade throttle response, and also does anyone know when stock 87s5 turbos are fully spooled (RPM's??)... much appreciated gang. Well, throttle response, in it's simplest form (with the EFI part of it ignored*), is MOSTLY (not entirely) a function of the length of your intake and how free flowing it and your exhaust is (and the volume air your intake contains at 'cruise,' etc. etc.).
Thats why some cars and most trucks have big boxes in the middle of the intake, just to aid with throttle response and make the car feel more powerful then it really is.
Turbo cars are stuck with long intakes, so the response isn't going to be as quick as on an N/A.
So, when your car can support it, get a full exhaust and a nice short intake.
*Now more on the EFI bit, the control of fuel injection when your throttle moves is a complex situation. Thats why our cars have a Throttle Position Sensor, to help our older ECUs calculate when they need to dump fuel. After you modify the car, you can use an aftermarket EMS where you can tinker with this group of settings for best effect.

ITB's , please explain (ted). by custom intake manifold you mean a custom fabricated intake to take in more air freely or, a shortened pipe so the air has to travel less distance to the turbo?

By ITBs, he means individual throttle bodies, or 1 throttle body per port
or even with 4 instead of 2, with the primarys and secondarys controlled seperately . but thats only if you really wanted to get nifty.
