throttle cable question.

Ok I bought a supposedly new tII throttle cable from a member a long while back and just installed it recently. The problem I am having is that when I put the throttle cable in, it has about an inch or so of play on the throttle body side before it actually opens up any throttle plates. I adjusted the little bugger as much as I can and it still is just loose enough that there is, like I said, about an inch or so of turning before it actually starts opening the throttle plates. Is there any way to tighten the inside cable of the throttle cable?
Any help would be awesome! Thanks.

Maybe I messed up on installing it on the firewall side. Can anyone tell me the correct way to do that? Thanks.

Maybe that cable is for another car series. I installed an turbo S5 engine into my S4 car and the S4 throttle cable was long like one inch. For luck, I have a spare S4 turbo intake manifold and I change the cable bracket from the S4 to the S5 engine and the problem resolved. I think you can check at mazdatrix to know if the S4 and the S5 throttle cables have the same parts number. Also I remember that I adjusted a bolt and nut at the acelerator pedal inside the car, but I dont remember if that was something related with the throttle cabe lenght.

interesting, because that is exactly what the issue is. It's about 1 inch to long... I'll check mazda trix. Thanks, anyone else with some insite, it's killin' me!

yep, sure enough, two differant part numbers. I'll call em' tomorrow to order the shorter of the two cables.
