Who has done the Throttle Body Mod ans what are your thoughts on it. Would you guys recommend I do it?

I have done it several times. I don't know how to measure results but I can say that it doesn't hurt to do it..

i reccomend it. i did it along with ported manifolds and noticed quite a difference in throttle response and i know its not in my head becuase it is that big of a diff

I did it as well. Throttle response is good but it borders on being very touchy. Kinda on or off situation. Either way if you're not stop and go driving which I doubt many of us are then yea do the **** out of it. Took me about 3 hours on mine, no money. Just time.

I like stripping the TB and doing the secondary throttle-plate removal just because it makes everything a lot easier to comprehend... There's probably a little bit of top-end power to be gained, but that's not really why I'd recommend doing it--more for the simplicity.

i to like having less stuff in the engine bay. their was a bit of power gain mostly because i had a boost leak from the secondary throttle plate.

kool guys I think I might end up doing it. I am going to wait a while to do it though. So I guess it's mostly all positive and very little negatives if any.

DO NOT REMOVE THE THERMO WAX unless you like sitting in the car to warm it up by hold the throttle up. I removed the thermo wax when I first did thsi and quickly regretted it. I put it back in and was very happy with it. I have an NA and at least thought I could notice a difference.

Just put on a new coolant line to the thermo wax. I ditched routing throught the BAC with a longer line.

My car idles fine in the cold, with no emisions and no thermowax andshit. I have to hold the gas for like 20 seconds and then it's fine. And I live in Maine. . it's cold hahaha

Your'e lucky then. In the winter i'd have to hold it for like 5 minutes to get it to idle on it own with out thermo-wax. In the summer I had to hold it for half that time. The engine was good with no vacuum leaks. Not sure Maine gets as cold though....

It's definetly worth the time and effort if you're going for HP. But driveability starts goin down the drain.

when you do this mod do you completely get rid of the BAC?

The "TB mod" has nothing to do with the BAC. They are seperate systems.

The TB mod is also useless on an NA. In my opinion, removing the cold start thermowax is a bad idea just plain stupid since there are no gains to removing it, only disadvantages.

I only have to hold my foot on the gas for a minute or so and I have a HUGE streetport. And I'm very glad that I did the TB mod. The one downside is that the throttle is a bit touchy afterwards. But it's nothing that isn't manageable. Just my .02

I also was happy to remove the thermowax nonsense. My car can hold a (low) idle after about 20 seconds of gentle driving. Within two minutes, it's rock-solid at 800 RPM's.

We also removed the thermowax etc. on my buddies 'near-stock' Turbo II and his car can idle just fine, all the time.

Then again, the previous owner of my Turbo II had done the thermowax removal on my car before and hated having to give the car a little extra gas--so he reinstalled everything... It's just a matter of taste, I suppose.

whre are the coolant lines that run to the thermowax? mines doesnt have any hooked up.

i have the tb mod done to both my s4 n/a and s4 TII. The n/a had a lot better throttle response afterward, and better overall throttle feel, i would definately recommend it. On the TII though, it makes it really jumpy, you have to ease in and out of the throttle to avoid jerking. this is with a correctly set tps.

and also dont take out the thermowax, my TII had it taken out by a previous owner, and it is a PITA to give it throttle for the first minute or so to get it to idle on its own. espeically when in cold weather.

i noticed no negative effects from taking the bac off, but i do not have AC on either car.

I know there is a whole thread about how to do it...im just curious if anyone on here would do it for me. Like I could send him my TB and he could send it back when he's done. It doesn't seem that hard to do, just a lot of time, but i dont want to mess anything up. What would you guess suggest. Should i just go for it?

im pretty sure gothamracing.com does it when they port/polish your throttle body. its 200 tho. personally id recommend just givin it a try yourself and saving the 200.

I bought a second TB and used that as a guide when I put the other one back together. You can get one off the forum pretty cheap.
