Good job! Not to detract from your work, but I noticed that you missed hard to reach areas on your Manifold.

If you want to save a couple of dollars, you can get a brass wirebrush wheel and hook It up to your Drill for very Impressive results. Follow this with a shot of clearcoat to seal the finish. Otherwise they will darken up by next season. I did this on my former NA with Impressive results.

Alternatively, you can go all out and just have all your Manifolds sandblasted along with your entire Powertrain, as I did.

Most heavy work was done with a BIG wirebrush on an angle grinder, then with a smaller one on a drill, and the throttle body shine was done using a small wire brush (actually I warn out 3 of em) on a dremel tool and some polishing stuff (doesn't seem to work on the other bits).

Silverrotor, those hard to reach parts just wouldn't get clean, I think I can only get those done with a sandblaster, just heard a week ago a friend of mine got one of those small sandblaster for these type of parts but now I can't get the intake manifold loose from the air chamber, I think I used a bit to much sealent (put it together BEFORE I found out my friend bought a sandblaster). Also tonight I found out that one of the bolts wont go back on that holds the intake in place

Actually, I wanted to paint the intake manifold with some heat resistant paint after I get it sand blasted for that extra cool finish.

Anyways, it will take me a little while longer to get all the other parts of the car done, still need to lift the rest of the engine out of the car. It looks a REAL mess. And I still need to figure out how to put the throttle body back together

One more picture showing some nice detailing

If you are painting It anyways, than those minor spots won't be much In the way. Fwiw, I searched and I found the details of what I used. It was a Black & Decker 4" Wire Wheel Brush, part #70-140.

I hope your LIM looks equivelant to the rest of the Manifolds. Post your setup after you are done.

Silverrotor, check out more pictures of my car here:

http://mux.speed.planet.nl/Multiplex...lue-gray%20RX7

As you can see I've only done major removal work and cleaned up the intake. Tomorow my car will be taken to a place I can work on it in doors (now its covered in snow outside ). I should be able to get the rest of the engine out before the end of the month (dont have much free time) and I'll be sure to post pictures as I progress. There is ALOT of work to be done.

The paint is going to rub off once you start to run everything.
Try and see if you can find pics of others who have painted their pulleys, and notice that the inside groove is always going to wear away.
Depending on the type of paint, it could glaze or ruin the rubber belt; at the very least, you might have initial slipping problems.  A slipping belt cannot be good for the engine.

yeah the standard ones are black coated, although the inside of the the tracks were covered in rust so I dont know if they had paint

We'll see what happens, if it gives me problems I'll just get a standard pully again, or maybe I just take out the sander and make the inside track clean again.
