How great of condition are we talking here?
I have a red 91' vert, in absolutely immaculate conditon, and I've had a guy hand me a check for $8k if I'd give the car up. I didn't. And I've had numerous offers for $7.5ish. It really depends on the area you live I would think. RX7's are rare in my city, people will pay a premium for a mint condition one here.
FYI, my car is mechanically stock, with $3k in 18" wheels, and about $2k in a custom stereo w/ two 10's hidden under the back(not the trunk), and $500 Viper alarm with 360 proximity sensors. The offer was before this was done.
She's getting a turbo conversion when fc3s.com releases there kit this summer. Unless I buy an FD, or GSX R1000
I'd laugh my *** off if someone offered me $4500...

1991 Black Vert. 150K, Exterior is pristine. Great paint, no dents or swirls/orange peal. Looks like it just came off the assembly line. Brand new motor, all rubber, fuel lines, cleaned injectors etc etc etc. New racing beat exhaust (only mod). New italian leather on seats. Interior is in great shape I must say. The top is in perfect shape. In all honesty, the car is in fabulous shape.
Would mods such as a turboII conversion hurt the value of the car or would it raise it, keep it the same?
How much would something like this bring?

well with your futher information:
Edmunds:
1991 Mazda RX-7 2 Dr STD Convertible
National Base Price
Trade-In $3,713
Private Party $4,577
Dealer Retail $6,018
Optional Equipment $0 (you didn't say if it was an auto tranny or not)
Color Adjustment Black $-4
Regional Adjustment for Midwest $169 $209 $275
Mileage Adjustment 150,000 miles $-1,294 $-1,294 $-1,294
Condition Adjustment: Outstanding $0 $0 $0
Total after adjustments:
Trade-In $2,585
Private Party $3,488
Dealer Retail $4,994
So it is worth even less with that many miles... even if it is really in perfect/outstanding condition (which I personally doubt with 150K miles on it).
Kelly blue book (which typically tends to be about $1000 higher than what most people pay) rates at:
Trade-In Value $3,175
Private Party Value $4,725
Retail Value $6,935
This is for a car in good condition
Now remember if you waited until the middle of May gets here the car will probably go up in value at least $1000. The dead of winter is probably the worst time of the year to sell a convertible and if the numbers are lower than what you want it could be related to that.

"Good" condition means that the vehicle is free of any major defects. The paint, body and interior have only minor (if any) blemishes, and there are no major mechanical problems. In states where rust is a problem, this should be very minimal, and a deduction should be made to correct it. The tires match and have substantial tread wear left. A clean title history is assumed. A "good" vehicle will need some reconditioning to be sold at retail; however major reconditioning should be deducted from the value. Most recent model cars owned by consumers fall into this category.

I'm wouldn't sell during the winter. I know well enough that the car is worth more to someone in the spring time.
Even with the numbers you posted, those aren't accurate. Blue book says that FD's are worth 10K but I see them going for 17-18K (Good Condition).
I wasn't asking how much kelly blue book says they're worth. I was asking how much they sold for in the real world. We both know darn well that those price generators don't apply to specialty cars.

Edmunds has always been extreamly accurate for me, and I have yet to find their numbers not to be exactly on for the actual sale prices.
Sure you can go by what people are asking and see FD's sold for $20K. But if you look at actual bill of sales and registrations Edmunds is exactly right.

actually, why don't you check out autotrader.com and get a feel for how much people want for their cars.

When I got my 88 vert the dealer wanted $3800 (on sale down from $4200), but only got $2600.

I've checked autotrader. I even go to the middle of the listings to weed through all the bs. Even in the middle they are going for 6.5-7 for the moderate kept RX7's.

A mint s5 vert goes for around $8k here, +/- for mileage.

the facts are that the value of verts vary as to your location....and the time of year,
another fact is that almost all people own and drive their rx7 verts for the pure pleasure of doing so....there is some speculation that they may go up in value as they disappear over time (i dont think so however, they just arent enough of an engineering marvel and didnt make a large enough impact to warrant it)
so, if your sitting on this vert for monetary reasons i would say your sittin on the wrong egg brother. get out and drive the car, in my opinion the feeling they give you when driven is not worth the money they fetch.

i paid $2k for a non running vert with minor exterior problems and the seats need to be redone. I got ripped i know. But if the car is worth it to you, who cares?

My vert's paint is as nice as that. A 91 with 84k, always garaged never driven hard or in bad weather. I've never seen a vert in real life as nice as mine. If the vert has low miles and was driven by a responsible driver, there's no reason why it can't be immaculate with 150k. Although I'm sure mechanically it might need some work. Unless it was regularly maintained by a professional.

Value of old cars is whatever the market will bear, as others have said asking prices vary from location to location.
Heavy and slow is relative, for a 15 year old convertible they handle and go well and have other qualities, to each his own.

Sounds like a pretty rare car to me!
One with 150,000 miles isn't going to be worth anything collector wise, though (just my opinion ), so it may actually be worth more money as a converted turbo II.
I know I'd rather have boost in mine, but like it a lot just the same. In the long run, who cares? Do what you want/can afford to it and have fun with it!
