thinking about rebuilding my 13B
Well after 1150 dollars in work, I was told my Rotary engine for my 1988 Rx7 was Blown due to dead oil seals. So i was wondering, I would really like to learn more about how rotaries work, and learn how to rebuild them. So why not rebuild the motor myself? I guess the question I am trying to ask is, with the right tools and a lot of money, Can i do it myself? I mean i have the time and patience which is key. But the experience and knowledge is what i lack. Do u think i should just send it to someone with experience like Kevin Landers or attempt to do it myself. Well just want some input and advice, and i welcome all forms of criticism both positive and negative. Thanks

Depends on if you have the time and if the car is needed (not a daily driver).
Rebuilds can cost less than $1000, depending on the damage/wear to the internals. There's only 3 moving parts in a rotary engine, so they're not terribly complicated.
If you had the money, then the only differences between sending it to a rebuilder and doing it yourself is knowledge gained and pride. Personally, I take a lot of pride in my car knowing that I've done all the work on it (except a rebuild... didn't have the time).
Assuming you replace EVERYTHING... here's what you would need. However, it's unlikely you would need to replace everything.
