I want to get an FD and thinking about the best way to sell my FC. It's got a lot of mods and I think I would lose a bunch of money if I just sold it as a whole car, so im considering parting it out. What do you guys think I could get for it as a whole car and whats the best route?

You'd be better off selling the car as a whole without parting, unless the body/interior is in poor condition. No matter which way you go, you're gonna come up short! Sometimes mods are a deterent to a buyer, but why not put it up for sale with a price you're comfortable with and see what happens. A lot quicker and easier to sell as a whole without dealing with e mails, then stripping and shipping parts all over.

why would you want an FD?

and sell it as a whole you will get a bigger chunk of cash quicker, then if you parted it out piece by piece

i hope you like spending $$, FD parts are not cheap. i personally would rather have an FC. although don't get me wrong, i love FDs, there so sexy!

 

FDs are hella friggin cheap right now, mint TurboIIs are going for more than FDs nowadays.

Depending on the overall condition of the car in the subject, down here, probably 8k or more. Depends on milage, etc.

Before I get blasted for saying its that high, the last 3 kouki TurboIIs I sold went for 8k-12k, within the last 2 years even. Each one even went to someone who already had an FC too.

yeah, that crack helped me sell them. Just because you got yours for $1300 doesn't make them all worthless.

 

i wish they weren't worthless but a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it and timing, i would be lucky to break even when/if i ever sell my car but i'm not keeping my hopes up. but i was looking into buying an FD and by selling my car the Fc would only provide about !/4 of what i would need to buy one.


i now have just over $3k invested in my car and i don't even think i could get that for it.

 

I think FC looks better than FD
-if you sell your car I may be interested in your stnadalone or your turbo :P

 

i would probably keep my FC anyways, i like both equally but the FC has better handling characterstics than the FD but the FD looks sleeker.

 

Once you invest as much money as a lot of us here have into their fc....good luck getting anything close to waht you put in out of the car. Same goes for aomost any other car.

 

I hope you don't think that's normal? My friend got his TII for free, and it runs, and the body is straight.

A good condition S4 TII with original motor and basically stock is like ~2k, s5 ~3k+

 

i wouldn't sell that TII... u wouldn't get much for it from the WA crowd... too many FB fanatics up here... makes me sick(and i own a FB!, but i think i'd trade it for a TII in a heartbeat, especially since i've owned 2 before it)

 

I've actually found that 2nd gens seem to go for a lot more around here than other places.

 

But a free running TII is not normal either.

Actually, good condition is subjective and the bay area commands a higher price. Over here, even if you double your figures, you won't find a "good" condition TII. It'll usually be abused or need paint, etc.

 

Then I guess you should never buy a TII in the bay area, lesson learned...

 

I just bought my 87 TII for $6,100, but it is in mint condition, 40K original miles, and has 2k in mods. It runs like a champ. I know people think I paid to much, but in my area it's hard as hell to find a mint TII with low miles. I'm content with what I paid for it, I guess that's all thaat matters. I know I paid way over blue book for it but I don't really know any car enthusiast’s that go by blue book. I know if I was to sell it I would lose $, but I would never sell this car. I will drop thousands into it within the next few years, but then again that's what you do with something you love My friends and family give me crap about "why put that much money into a car that you won't be able to get back the mony you put into it." THEY ARN"T CAR ENTHUSIAST'S!

i recently had a bud selling his 87 TII for 1500... wish i bought it... they may go for more here, but they aren't anywhere near as popular as the dog of a car known as an FB lol... i wish they were... when i went to dallas and went to a 7 meet, there were no FB's, only some really nice FC's and a few FD's... was so nice... that was when i still had my 88 TII

 

If I had expendable $, I wouldn't mind throwing down 7k-8k on your TII if the interior/exterior were really pristine and the comp. was excellent...

Do you have the original exhaust, ECU etc.? If I were you I'd take off the major "high demand/value parts" and add up what you think you could get for it parted (as long as you have the stock replacement parts)... A nice white, rebuilt/ported TII that's relatively stock should get you around 4.5k+ to the right buyer.
