Thinking about buying a T2

I found this 1987 T2 low mileage, many aftermarket parts $2800, I was just wondering what I should be looking for as far as problems. Let me know what you think.

be wary of those aftermarket parts... it could be a shoddy install. I would look for a stock T2, just to be safe. But if he has receipts, and he knows what he's doing, it shouldnt be so bad.

I always say, take your time when checking out any car...Take notes, take the time to get the feel of a car on many different road conditions...Then stop turn it off, check all fluids, get underneath, look all around the care very carefully, check all electric options, make sure everything works, then hop back in and restart it and finish your drive, often times a hot car will show problems...Also make sure the car is cold when starting your firstr time.... Make sure you know what your doing before making an offer.
Good luck/skill The T2's can be one of the best true sports car buys anywhere!

Thanks thats good info the only question I have is how do you tell the difference between the Zenki FC and the Kouki FC. if there is a visual way of determining this without teardown (ie. VIN tags on turbo or rearend).

Eaiest way to tell is look at the turbo. S5 will have a bent wastegate actuator arm.

Zenki FC turbo...
Twin scroll actuator on the "front" right under the turbo - you should be able to see it.
Knock sensor on the center housing.
1.75" inlet to the intercooler.

Kouki FC turbo...
Oil outlet pipe to the front cover is straight - Kouki FC turbo is bent.
Knock sensor on the rear rotor housing - both rotors housings should have an extra threaded boss over the trailing (top) spark plug hole.
2.00" inlet to the intercooler - well, someone could've switched intercoolers, but I doubt it.
