Ajusting BOV

Just got a Blitz SS BOV and I am not sure on the best setting for the spring tension. How do I find the sweet spot?

I adjusted mine (an Apex'I) unit almost as hard as I could. Takes 6 PSI to open the valve. My opinion is that this is not enough pressure to harm the turbo should the valve not open, and I am not running "too soft" a setting and loosing boost when I shift at 1-4 PSI.

That seems way to hard to me.... if 6 psi isn't to much to damage the turbo than why do all factory cars with stock boost at 5-6 psi have BOV's??
I'd say set it so you can hear it open if you get boost up to about 3 lbs and let off.

Just my opinion. Probably alot harder on the turbo then a lower setting, but everything is a tradeoff. I didn't want to bleed more boost then necessary. Besides, my turbo is getting hybridized anyway, so I wasn't too worried about it's longterm health.

First, do a rev test with the BOV if you will vent to air. After a few aggressive revs, the valve should close quickly on it's own power. If it does not close or takes too long, then the valve is set too softly. Then do a test drive to listen and be sure that you are getting proper pressure release.

The BOV's responsibility is to prevent compressor surge.&nbsp Adjust it until you get ZERO compressor surge.&nbsp You can run it lighter in the street, but if you're racing (on the track) I tighten mine all the way down.
