Thinking about buying this '88 RX7

I was thinking about making the purchase of this 88 RX7. Your 2 cents would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am not sure I'd pay that much for it. Yeah... It has a lot of aftermarket parts. But the parts don't hold that great of value. He ought to have some documentation as to where and when exactly the engine was rebuilt, if he wants to get anything even close to his asking price.

That's what I was thinking. The price sounded to high. He claims he has some records. I was thinking $2800+ -

Door handles are easy to replace as you just pull the door panel and remove two 10mm nuts. But cost to consider to replace must also include paint.

junk yard would be a good place to hunt some down. or you can try to repair whatever is wrong with them, unless one of the aluminum pieces actually broke, which has happened to me. but that is minor stuff.

Wow, that car looks like it was cobbled together from junk yard parts. It would probably be fine as a drift car since a stripped car with a cruddy body will work fine for that, but it would definitely not be worth the trouble if your intent is to restore it by fixing the body parts, repainting it, and installing new interior.

Door handles are pretty easy to replace, and they come pre-painted so you will not need to worry about that. You are looking at about $250 total, plus about a day's work for installation and adjustment. It's not a big deal as long as it is just the exterior handles.

What the heck is "b12 racing suspension"? Bilstein doesn't make a B12 kit for the RX-7, so is this some cheapie Korean junk or did he modify some other suspension to fit?

Also, what the heck is "stage 2" engine porting?

a step above stage one and below stage 3 haha

All joking aside, the car looks alittle beat up and pretty expensive. What do you want to use this car for? If its for drifting then by all means offer him $2300-$2500, because the car would be perfect for that, but if its going to be a street car or race car then im sure u can find a better car than that...

Could be me, but if i was trying to sell a car i'd have some better pictures of it than that!! I'm not sure how much you guys 'accross the pond' pay for FC's at the current exchange rate price is a little high but if your planning on drifting it or something and you can get a few $100 knocked off the price, seems a good starting point!

Not to keen on spending that kinda cash on someone else's fixer upper... for for almost 4g's.

lol just down the street here where i live there is a Porche for sale for 5g's and its in exelent shape....but thats apples and oranges...

i wouldnt even think about it... unless i knew where and who did the engine and as some a have said there are some mods on it and parts that i have never heard off(not saying they dont exist) just havent heard of them...

Definiatly need more information on the car before i would consider paying that much...

Thanks for the good info guys. I looked at the car yesterday and HS was it in some rough shape. Lots of things wrong with that car. I can go on all day. No way I was going to pay anything more than $2k. It's pretty frustrating that people don't always give you their honest opinion over the phone. You're just wasting everyone's time.

I'd not even pay close to 2k for that.

A guy local to me had one listed in similar condition and similar mods for the same price. It's now for sale for $500 bucks because he got mad and junked the title.
