Stop spreading misinformation.
The car never used dual T51R's - no fricken 13B can spool two of those things.
They use a pair of HKS GT-3037's.

OK, here's a question I have been wanting to ask but never bothered yet.....

Sorry if I sound like a total retard, but why do lots of people running big time turbos just run with the velocity stack looking thing on them and no filters?

Is it just because it would be hard to have a filter that you could suck that much air through fast enough?

Wouldn't running this kind of wide open setup put you in danger of sucking small things, like Rhode Island, into your turbo's and getting them lodged in the intercooler or even pushing them into the engine?

But to stay on topic...... damn that's a fine car.

Most filters flow quite well, actually. However, it is still some sort of restriction... therefore, having no filter should net you quite a bit more power.

Having no filter on a turbo will aid in destroying a turbo quickly, but to some people, it may be worth it... to others, it may not be. I was running just a velocity stack for about a month, and had no bad luck driving around the city here in SoCal. Again, it's entirely up to you whether you want to risk it or not for just a street car.

It's a purpose-built drag car first.

The compressor housings that are actually on the car are definitely not that of a T51R. Plus, what Ted said, those are mighty big turbos for a 13b to spool.

Yep, you are right.
Those are pics of the HKS T51R Kai and SPL turbos.
If you throw the text into a translator, they talk about how well the T51R Kai would do in plain versus BB center.
There is NO talk about using TWO of them on their car.
Notice, the entry is earlier than the current GT3037 twins.

You're making conclusions because of this picture.
You're wrong.
Face it.

KSP makes them.
I think one other shop makes them too - FEED?
They are like $500 EACH.

They are NOT solid aluminum.
They are some urethane(?) pivot center and of pretty complex design.
