Are these housings any good ?
Hello all,
I did a rebuild on my 88 turbo a few years ago and I replaced the rotor housings
with almost new ones, and they have worked great since then.
I posted a few pics about a year ago or so, of the finished car, which I am very happy with.
I am wondering if these original housings are still good, or still have some usable life in them, or
are they past the point and just good for display housings, ha.
These had 74k on them when I replaced them, and they do have a few scratches around the exhaust port, and one scratch above the top right spark plug hole, that you can barely catch your fingernail on.
I really am no expert on reading rotor housings and knowing if still good or not.
I havent been able to drive my cars for a few months now, because of the snow, going stir crazy, so decided to go thru my garage and sort thru my older parts.
I know there are a lot of people on the forum who know rotor housings, and any info, comments are
well appreciated. Thanks.

I guess maybe the question is do the few light scratches around the exhaust ports and the
scratch above the top plug hole, as seen in the pic, does that make these housings totally unusable or is it something like... nah, it doesnt really affect the housings performance
in the big overall picture. Maybe a few builders would know...

Thanks for the replys. I did take a few more pics and these are about as good as I can get
with the digital camera I have.
The thumbnails should expand tp larger also, they balloon up to like 8 " by 8" on my screen.
The housings look shinier than the pics, really ultra smooth and bright chrome like.
the few small scratches by the exhaust ports should show up better also.

As far as edge wear, what I see is like a 3/32" really faint edge banding all the way around
its is a different color than the shiny chrome like effect but still bright, not brown or anything, looks like the brightness of store bought galvanized steel pipe.
I cant feel any ridge with my finger, it is a smooth transition from the edge to center.
In one area about 2" long on one edge I can feel a very slight difference between the two, that is all.
I have been a plumber for many years, and I have mechanical experience, and I would say these housings are good, only that I am unsure if a few scratches around the exhaust port
and one above the spark hole automatically disqualifies them.
