Question Thermostat Readings

My '88 Vert's temp is always reading 1/2 way when driving around and 3/4 when under stress like a steap hill or running my AC.

Are these normal temps or could there be a problem? I have heard that a normal temp reading is under 1/2 way with normal driving.

That is the same as my S4 TII. I wouldn't worry about it to much because my motor has yet to blow a seal. I think some of the temp gauges read a little off. Go get a new temp gauge and see what the temp is REALLY doing.

Test your temperature with an aftermarket. If it really is that high, I would be concerned.

Thanks. I will see what an aftermarket reads.

Well, s4 gauges normally read at 1/4 for acceptable temperatures. Considering your engine is still running, I think the gauge is shot. Get a good temp gauge as suggested.
