Angry broken speedo and odd sounds

Yesterday while going for a nice drive not seeing any cops i decides to see what my FC could do and I was quiet satified with it but after stopping at some lights I noticed that my speedometer read 0 no matter how fast I drove. This alone isn't my problem its more of a good excuse if i get caught speeding again but what is irratating me is when the car moves their is an anoying sound comming from behind the dash. The sound is much like small hail hitting your car or hitting a metal roof.
So what I have concluded is that the sound is comming from the line going to the speedo. Anyother suggestions?
Also how would i fix something like this, its really irratating me.

your cable probably unplugged from the back of the instrument cluster. Just take it off and plug it back in. Not terribly hard, just a couple of screws.
