Thermostat question, please i need help.

This past winter, i had a Hotter thermostat installed because my car would never idle down and fully warm up. Now that it's hotter outside and not cold at all, i notice my car gets really hot. Would this be because I still have the hotter thermostat in. I think this is so, but I wanted to see what some of you guys had to say. I know it's not my radiator because I'm holding coolant fine without leaks. Everyonce in a while i do have to top off my overflow tank but not a lot. I'm going to get a cold thermostat installed to see if this is why my car is running so warm. What do you guys think?

Only ever use OEM thermostats.

A thermostat is such a simple device Marshall. Just think about it............

190 degree thermostat = thermostat opens at 190

180 degree thermostat = thermostat opens at 180

Therefore, the hotter the opening temp, the later it will open. You definately want to put the OEM thermostat back in for the summer man, or you might be sorry.

If your cooling system's OK you shouldn't need different thermostats for summer and winter, just the correct one from Mazda.
