buying advice...GTUs?

Well, i thought I had missed the boat by being overly cautious but it turns out that the FC I was looking at is back up for sale. I suspect it is a 1990 GTUs, it's going for $2500.....new clutch, tint, cd player, exhaust intake, standard stuff, rebuilt engine with 40k on it. Two small rust spots. The odd thing is that is has sunroof in poor condition but I still believe it's a GTUs since it has the 4.30 final drive ratio and no other power stuff etc. Should I go for it?

Could be aftermarket sunroof. I got an 89 GTUs w/ a HUGE sunroof, ask the owner. Price looks decent, I'd drive it first though.(Obviously---doh!)

Id buy it even if it had a blown engine. Id rebuild that **** quick. GTUs are sick. First off its S5 , second it has 4.30 gears and decent paint. Definatly what I will be looking for after colledge. BUY IT.

well, I'm a college student now .

Long story short, I can't test drive it just yet, but my friend did for me and it runs well. I got some pics of it but the car looks worn out. Guess it's just old, but the sideskirts and eaten by rust and the sunroof is ruined. Stripping on the glass is wearing away. I think I'm just going to take a wait and see attitude.

hmm yeah, if you don't think you will have time to restore it, it isn't worth buying if you know you will grimace every time you see that rust bubbling...

Doesnt sound like its been taken care of. My car has a very shitty paint job (one that is getting redone). But its in overall ok condition. It shows the car was taken care of, the owner was just a cheap bastard.
