Thermostat

I just replaced my thermostat today in my 88' GXL and I noticed the new one was a little different than the old one?? Is this correct?? I got the part from a Mazda dealer.. Also my temp gauge used to stay half way between C and H.. Now with the new thermo it never gets above 1/4.. Is this also correct?? Thanks for all the help and advice..

Jimmy

on S4 cars, its normal and right for the guage to never go above 1/4 during normal operating conditions, how were the stats different? probably just an improved version over the old is my guess, -alex

on my 88 GXL it reaches the half way mark on the gauge alot... i bought a thermo from autozone, then realized there was a mazda dealership closer than i thought... so i'll be returning that.

I have an S5 and on my guage the needle sits right above the 1/2 mark. Is this normal?

I tried all weekend to get my temp gauge to rise above 1/4.. No matter what I did it wouldn't budge.. It is amazing what the right part will do for the power and performance of the 7.. Always buy factory parts for your car.. These cars are very particular about that.. Now I am ready for the Summer.. Car runs better than before and barely gets hot.. Thanks for all the feedback.. Have a Good Week,

Jimmy
