Thermo sensor

On the neck of the water hose inlet there is a male blade conector sticking out, what would this be. There was no wire on the harness for it, would this be a wire on the S5 engine harness. I know there is a sensor located on the drivers side on the block, above the oil pressure send. Im asking this question because my temp. gauge isnt working an I just thought this had something to do with it.
If i need to take picture i will tommorow.
Thanks

No...there has to be a connector for that sensor. That thermo sensor has nothing to do with the temp gauge. It sends a signal to you ecu for your idle and fuel consumption. maybe someone else can explain better...

Yea thats what i figured. I don't know what happend to the wire i just know its not on the s4 emmission harness. I guess ill just run a new wire to the ecu. Unless anyone has any other suggestion.

Im guessing this would make my idle high and jumpy. Making the ecu think it needs to warm up the engine.

That is not the sensor for the ECU.

The male spade connector your reffering too is for the stock electric fan (A/T only?).

Doesn't really matter if its connected or not.

The ECU thermo sensor is located at the back of the water pump assembly under the alternator. This have a two prong connector much like a fuel injector.

Temp switch for the small electric fan in front of the radiator.
