Thermal Pellet...

I read the mod on Ted's site and have also recieved the atkins pellet in my rebuild kit. So here's my question.

If you could plug the bypass hole in the e-shaft, could you just discard the pellet all together? I don't know just yet if the shaft is hardened in that area. But if it's not, why not tap and Loc-tite a set screw in the hole? It really is a pretty small hole. Maybe 3mm? Being a little reluctant to put heat to the shaft, I still think a guy good with a TIG could weld it shut with a minimal amount of heating.

What do ya think?

Why?

a thermo-pellet is less than $20 and the washr method is less than $5,

Tapping the hole, or MIG/Tig filling the hole is going to be much more than either.

And your bump has been deleted. Bumps are forbidden here in the 2nd gen technical section, and it is considered rude to bump is less than 24 hours in any section.

ok?

he answered your question..

it would be quite difficult also to weld inside that hole without damaging the threads for the front pulley bolt.
