Is there a proper and pro way to apply Block-off plates?
I will putting on a whole slew of them.
MOP
ACV
Split-Air
EGR
I have all the plates except for the MOP and I have the original gaskets for the ACV and EGR plus some good old RTV Blue and Black. Also I will be applying new Turbo to manifold gasket and UIM and LIM gaskets. Will the black rtv work well on these? Will it melt on the turbo/recirculate into it somehow? Just where do I put the rtv on the items and how much?

Copper??? Never heard of it- what's the temp range given on the tube?
Red RTV is good to 500*F...Only place you can't put it on our cars is the exhaust manifold surfaces...

When I bought my new LIM off ebay that already had an ACV blockoff plate and plugged actuator holes, the RTV that was used was copper. That thing is freaking STUCK on there. I took the bolts out and tried to rip it off to no avail. Sucks too, I wanted to put my RB ACV blockoff plate on that says "DO NOT INSTALL" it's classic looking when someone looks in the engine bay Funny how a shop will take that off and write that on it and expect me to actually follow their suggestion

As far as the GE brands of RTV go, the black is good to 400*F, and is more "pliable" when cured compared to the GE red (the red gets fairly stiff when subjected to lots of heat, but it's like the copper stuff mentioned above- once the plates on, it's a PITA to get back off)
