I was flushing my rad the other day and when I put the fan shroud back on I broke the wire off the sensor, now my damn buzzer wont stop going off. I checked auto zone, wrong part, Napa didnt even have it and the dealer had like four different kinds of sensors, all costing over 40 bucks. So is there any way to bypass that stupid sensor to make the buzzing go away?

Where are you located man? I think Iam having the same problem. Where is the wire anyway? Is it that one right by the cap? My comes on and off its weird. When I make sharp turns, it shuts off. But its freaking annoying!

I just grounded mine to the engine bay. Find the wire that plugs into the top of the radiator, and ground a wire from that to the engine bay. Buzzing should stop.

yes, ground the wire that comes from the harness TO the sensor, not the wire from the sensor. the sensor's wire will be open (not attached to anything). the wire from the ecu (wiring harness) should be brown or brown with a white stripe i believe. ground it to make the buzzing stop.

Grounding it is a big mistake. Just buy the correct sensor at mazdatrix. It's real cheap. All you have to do is crimp on a connector.

drill out the top of the sensor and solder a new wire in. It's either that or get a new sensor. Dont be a cheapass when it comes to safety sensors like that. Overheated rotary=-1000 bucks from your bank account.

I wasnt going to continue to do it, it is just going to be abandaid until i buy a new one, definetly not from the dealer.

check the price at the dealer. see if they have one on hand. tell them how much you can get it for if their price is higher. some things they have on hand. i bought a water thermo sensor (which i need to return) which they had in the store for $40. they had it because its the same sensor as other cars have, so its more common. i cant speak for the water level sensor, but its worth a try. just take yours up there and show em and see if you can find the right part.
as far as being a "cheapass," i've had mine ghetto-rigged for way longer than anyone would want to admit. i keep an eye one my water-level and temp-sensor, though. now that i have a job again, i can buy a new sensor eventually.
how you take care of your problem afterwards is none of our concern. i'm sure you know what the sensor does and know what would happen if you overheated.

i reread what you wrote about the sensors. did you see the location of the sensors? when i went up there, i remember the computer listing two water thermosensors, but i only know of one. mine was $40, though. i doubt the water level one would be over $40 if mazdatrix has it for $15. but hey, dealerships are quirky.

The dealer didnt have any on hand, and they were they only dealer that carried them , he said he coul have them here by the end of the week, bu tthey had to be prepayed, so i told him to shove it up his ***, I just found one on victoriabritish.com for a quater fo the price they wanted, im ordering one there. Thanks for the help guys

Alternately, go look in the classifieds section of this forum, and ask there. I'm sure someone will ship you one for very little.

Don't just bypass it. You'll forget to fix it, and then one day down the road a line will fail, your car will **** coolant and you won't notice it (sorry, even if you check it every stop, a slow leak on the highway will kill the engine before you figure out something is wrong), and you'll be posting going "Uh... my engine overheated badly, anyone want to help me rebuild it?"

The coolant level sensor and oil level sensor are arguably the two most important sensors on the car (followed very closely by the water temperature sensor). A loss of either fluid, if not immediately followed by shutting the engine down, will usually result in the loss of an engine. At the very least, you'll normally have to rebuild it to fix the coolant leak, assuming that you don't warp anything.

Mine kept beeping at weird times for no obvious reason. Until I looked closely and found a tiny pinhole leak at the top of the radiator. It definitely does its job.

Yea, after my rebuild one of my hoses wasn't fully tightened (the heater core hose under the oil filter... common problem). It was just leaking a little bit, but the sensor let me know that things were amiss. It's definitely important. If blipping the throttle makes it go off, the coolant is just a bit low, and you should refill and find the leak ASAP (within a few minutes, ideally). If blipping the throttle *doesn't* make it go off, it's a good time to turn the engine off.
