Don't get me wrong though, I took my car to Virginia International Raceway and was taching 6000-7500 for three 30 minute sessions. I never go WOT in 4th unless I'm 100+, but then again I've got an n/a.

Plus I can't stand hearing that damn buzzer continuously haha
well yeah, i got a s5 N/A, it has good power till about 7,900 rpm. And of course i would not be below 100 in 4th at WOT

There was a guy on rx8club that cleared his memory, put on a piggy back controller/logger and slowly watched things change over the months. The PCM actually started to somewhat learn the tune from the piggy back and compensate for it. Thus the tune started to become less and less useful over time...

Damn this modern technology, it's time for standalone!

The whole redlining thing on rx8club is just to clear out the carbon. It was actually suggested by Mazda in a TSB. But this was in response to the shitty auto rx8's out there, the old design ones. People were getting way too much carbon buildup, low compression, and many other issues after like 30-50k miles. This was because they were ONLY driving in the 2-3k range all the time. So Mazda basically said "redline your damn engines once in a while, jeez!"

haha that sucks...i would be pissed if i spent money on mods and then the computer just compensated, making them useless...

How many rotary drivers does it take to change a spark plug?
The S4 ports open off back pressure from the exhaust they start to open at 1.2psi and fully open at 2.1psi the RPM has jack didaly to do with this. They are generally not sapost to open under no load IE neutral if they do you more then likely have an exhaust problem. But some times on a fresh motor they pop open in neutral.

The S5's work off the air pump but I don’t know the ins and outs.

Damn dDub beat me to the PCM explanation hehe. And I am stuck with a shitty AT god I hate that ******* car! I really do.

Yea I've heard of people using them for fmic setups... I don't see why it wouldn't work... I mean hell anything has to be better than the Greddy elbow... Why they pointed it right at the brake booster I'll never understand... lol

what he said-but i think he was asking at around what rpms does the backpressure open the ports? my s4 opens around 4200.

I have to agree! But, I wonder, just how hard you have to drive one of these things to 'mistreat' it?
I've had my '87TII since new and I 'drive the p!$$ out if it" every day. I boost as much as it can off the lights and I burn it through the curves in the Rocky Mountains on my commute to work (Denver to Grand Junction) each week.
Howsit run you may ask? Fantastic.

Just passed 221000 miles and haven't opened the engine for any work. The biggest repair expenses have been this summer - new oil seals and new exhaust. Only stranded by the motor quitting twice - both times when Alt belt broke too far between exits for the battery to keep it running.

Best (and most fun) car in the world IMHO!@
