Tell me which COUNTER WEIGHT I have? *Pic*
Can anyone identify this rear counterweight? I had read that 2 balancing holes more than likely means that it is a S5-S6 counter weight.
I need to know this because I need to know which flywheel to run. I am going back to a stock flywheel. I currently have a S5 stock flywheel and need to know if that will work.

What does it matter if you are putting a stock flywheel on it? The stockers don't use a counter weight as it is built in... so you would just be taking yours off and selling it in the F/S section wink wink. Unless... UNLESS you drive an automatic

Isn't there a difference between S4, S5 and S6 flywheels? I need to know which one to use.
Hey mate,
If you go to the URL in the above post, it's actually very difficult to tell the differences between counterweights, and it seems to be impossible when it's actually on the car.
Yours looks like the pic of the 76-85 13B or 89-95. You need to do as the website says, remove it and measure it's size and compare that to the numbers on the website. Someone may be able to tell you as is but I recommend removing it and measuring it with a set of vernier calipers as Mazdatrix suggests and 87 t-66 posted.

Not that he is looking to attach that counterweight to the stock flywheel. You may want to wink wink his PM box.
As posted above, the mazdatrix guide will be your friend. I think you can only really tell from the other side of the counterweight anyway.
I say this because... don't you know what series your engine is? I guess though pieces could be mixed and matched.
wink wink. I am not looking for a rear counter weight, but others always are, so you can sell it and put some money in your pocket

Ok, I took the counterweight off and measured. It came out to .496 . Would that mean it's from a 89-95 engine?
I'm using a TII transmission and TII clutch. What Flywheel do I need to use? I currently have a S4 (318) stock flywheel. Can I just use that?
Here are pictures for reference.

Looks like a S5/S6 Counterweight to me.
Which means if you are running a TII trans you will need a stock S5 TII Flywheel.
You can NOT use a S4 flywheel unless you want mad shaking and unbelievably premature bearing wear.
