Tehmonkay's more than likely slow project thread

Well I found myself a rust free S5 NA with a perfect interior for $600, the engine has a blown coolant seal on the intake side, i got it to run with starter fluid and goes and runs up to redline but the coolant buzzer goes off after 1.5 minutes.

Also, it's an automatic.

So the car will be getting a freshly rebuilt and streetported S4 T2 engine, running a Megasquirt and spark. A manual swap, the proper way, by welding in the brackets for the manual trans in the trans tunnel. T2 drivetrain swap etc.

The first thing to do is to get the blown S5 NA engine out. I spent almost 2 hours today slowly pulling stuff out of it.

I'll be needing to get as many things out of the bay as possible as I am switching the paint color of the car and want the bay to match. The car will be painted innocent blue mica, for those of you not in the know it's an FD color, for 99' and up I believe.

I was going to take pictures, however it seems as though a younger sibling has hidden the digital camera memory stick from the rest of our family so you'll just have to wait for that until tommorow.

auto to manual swaps, how is it? I was looking at a tII swapped vert that was an auto to manual conversion and I just can't get over how you have to mount the tranny. seems dangerous to me. but i dunno, anyone ever have any problems out of it?

Well most people use an adapter plate to mount it to the automatic crossmember, which if strong enough is fine for a stockport NA.

I am however welding the brackets that the manual transmission crossmember uses, into the transmission tunnel. Just have to remove them from a donor car (i know of several) and have someone who actually knows how to weld put it on the bottom of the car after removing the carpet.

Ok, so out of boredom i decided to test fit the FMIC i got for $20 included with about another engine an s5 na intake and a shitload of other parts.

It fits perfectly between everything, mounts in the same way as the radiator/oil cooler do, slanted, pipes go under car so no holes are required. What is it?
