Taking A/C Belt Off

My RX's A/C doesn't work. . . I was wondering if it will mess up anything if I just take the a/c belt off completely. Maybe get 1/8 of a hp!

If I do this, is there anything else I should do?

Thanks

Charles

Don't rip it out. Have you not noticed how hot that sumbitch is??? Try to refill the gas with a $25 R134a kit and see if it doesn't start right up. My system leaks somewhere and I have to put a new can in every 8-9 months or so. But the little can is 5 bux. Shure is cheap comfort. My A/C blows between 35-42 degrees (yes I have a thermometer in the vent) and it is really nice on long hot days. It is so cold in there after 20 minutes you start getting brain freeze like drinking an Icee too fast. and if you want the xtra HP then just turn the A/C switch off.
