my tack won't work any more i put some reverse guages in it and i put it all 2gether and checked all my wires and stuff and started it and i worked and then i shut it off. lil later i started it again and it won't work. do tachs jus go bad? its in an 88 vert

 

i also put different coils in from a different rx7

 

Check for spark at the trailing coil, then. Put a timing light on the trailing wires...

The tack takes its input from the trailing coil... so usually when the tach stops working, its a problem with the trailing coil.

 

i was thinking it might be a dodgy trailing coil as ive got this problem kind of to. Start the car and the tacho doesnt register, rev it to 5 grand and hit the pop up lights and the tacho kicks in and the car runs fine for the rest of the day... maybe its just not getting enough juice, then i hit the lights at decent revs and it brings it to life... wonder how long if it is the trailing coil it will last like this dont want to drive around and one day the trailing coil/s dies on me 100 miles from home :P

 

mine just won't work at all doesn't matter how fast i go. mabe my trailing coil is bad. my n/a is runnin rich 2
