Tach short?
Alright, im wondering if anyone can give me some advice on my problem. Heres the deal, i just finished putting a pretty low miles s4 n/a engine into a s4 n/a shell i got. I've hooked everything up and i go to start it, what happens is the tech goes up to 3,000rpm and i hear a humming sound from under the dash. No acessories or anything have enough power to work properly. Does this seem to be symptoms of a short somewhere? Im thinking it may be coming from the tachometer wiring seeing as it goes up to 3grand with the car off. Any help would be great, thanks.

Is the TRAIL coil assy bolted down?
That problem has been seen on this site ONCE before, but for the life of me I can't remember what the problem was. Key to ON and the TACH goes to 3 grand? Right? No engine running.
I don't think it's a short, but a plug connected up wrong ....somewhere. If I remember what happened on the other thread, I'll write back.

Yes, thats exactaly what happens, tach goes up to 3grand with the keyswitch turned to on, then when i turn it to start the tach slowly goes down, very weird . I was very careful in labeling my plug wires before I did the swap, im almost 100percent sure they are correct. And the coils are bolted down nice and tight. I've done a few swaps before and never ran into anything like this, im also at a loss for what it might be, i've been going though the FSM like crazy to try and find a solution. Thanks for the help though. Any other ideas would be appriciated.
