Unhappy Tach just died!

I was pulling out of my driveway this morning and heard a loud "clicking" sound coming from under the dash, soon after my tach was at zero RPM's going 50 m.p.h.!

I mean, dont get me wrong, my M.p.g. must be great now but how the hell do I fix this???

Thanks

is the tach the only guage that died?
check the "METER" fuse in the under dash fuse box.
i think th tach is measured from the trailing coil so there could be a wiring issue there as well.

good luck

Could be quite possible your trailing coil went bad (though i hear they rarely do, but I've had it happen to me?) Have any strange problems when you're up to speed/etc?

Do you have spark from your trailing plug wires?

Hmm im leaning toward meter fuse youd feel a difference in power big time if it was the coil pack

Well, when I killed my trailing it didn't affect it too much, only when I got on it really hard. *shrug*

Read http://www.teamfc3s.org/info/articles/demystifying.html

The tach signal comes off the yellow/blue wire of the trail ignitor. It's possible that's its a loose connection at the combination meter.

Note the remarks that are made in the above article about the trail coil assy. I notice no difference when I disconnect mine, even on my 82 RX I could disconnect the trail ignitor and notice no difference. Lead coil is a different animal. Car won't hardly run without it.

Most likely by the time I write this the tach will have mysteriously reappeared.
